We love to go to Donato's. We eat pizza there more frequently than any other pizza establishment. Last night, we ran over to get a late supper. The store was quiet - several take out orders were processed, and I believe there was one other party there besides us. The store has gotten rid of their television, and I don't recall any canned music. So it is quiet enough to hear a conversation (whether it is yours or someone elses...). We split an Italian chef salad for opening. The large salad is enough for two people to eat and not feel deprived. My wife had a Pepsi - I don't care for Pepsi products so I had water. My wife ordered her favorite Donato's sandwich - the Big Don Italian dressing sub. I ordered one of the limited time specials - the Tomato Basil Turkey sub. The bistro sub bun was good - better than the current sub buns (but not as good as the original sesame seed buns). The turkey was not thin slices of deli style turkey, but appeared to be slices of real roasted turkey breast. The basil was detectable, and the tomato and lettuce were okay. However, the bistro sauce is a sweet sauce which was a bit much for my preference - I like spicy better than sweet. All in all, the sandwiches were satisfactory.
